Decide first which level you mean; they reach very different amounts of data.
Stop receiving data from a site or app
Where: Product analytics › Data management › Data sources.
Deleting a data source (a website domain, an app identifier) only stops new data from it. History already stored stays and reports still work. Use it when a site is retired or an app is no longer maintained.
Shorten retention
Where: Configuration › Settings › Privacy.
Reducing retention from 12 to 6 months, for example, lets the scheduled job delete older detail. It can't be undone; summary trends remain.
Delete one visitor's data
When someone asks for their personal data to be deleted, create a data subject request under Configuration › Privacy center with the type set to erasure. You can identify the person by device, login ID, email or user. Erasure runs after a cooling-off period, during which it can be cancelled. See Do Not Track and visitor opt-out.
Delete a whole project
Only the project owner can delete a project. All its data, settings and memberships are removed, and members lose access immediately. Export anything you need first.
Close your account
Where: Account settings, confirmed with your password.
Closing your account also deletes every project you own. The console shows that data is purged permanently after 30 days. If you only want to stop paying, you don't need to close anything: paid plans never renew automatically, and the account falls back to Free.
You were invited to someone else's project
You can't delete a project you don't own. To leave, ask its owner or an admin to remove you from the members. Your own account, and any projects you own, are unaffected.
Can it be undone?
- Deleted data source: add it again and new data flows in; nothing is recorded for the gap.
- Shortened retention, executed erasure requests: permanent.
- Closed account: your sites are deleted and purged for good after 30 days. Export what you need before closing.
