PathClue vs product analytics platforms

Product analytics and website analytics, in one tool

Dedicated product analytics platforms go very deep on funnels, retention and cohorts, and suit products with a data team and a well-planned tracking scheme. They usually care less about website traffic and sources, pricing climbs quickly with events or users, and you design an event plan before starting. PathClue puts website and product analytics in one project, and autocapture records clicks first so you can define events afterwards.

  • Website + product analytics
  • Autocapture, define later
  • Priced by monthly event quota

Choose PathClue if you want

  • Traffic sources, SEO, AI sources and product behaviour in one tool
  • Autocapture first, define events later in the inbox
  • Session replay and heatmaps without a separate purchase
  • WeChat, Alipay and Douyin mini programs
  • Monthly event quotas and a free plan that lasts

Choose product analytics platforms if you need

  • Very deep cohort analysis, experimentation and data governance
  • A data team whose workflows are already built around it
  • Two-way sync with your data warehouse as a core requirement

Switching

Switching from a product analytics platform

Keep your event names; run both, then switch.

  1. 1

    Add the PathClue snippet

Leave your current SDK in place — both can run on the page together.

  2. 2

    Rebuild goals and funnels

Only the ones you actually use, or install an industry template.

  3. 3

Compare for two to four weeks

PathClue usually shows fewer visitors, because bots are counted separately.

  4. 4

    Switch over

Remove the old code once the team is comfortable.

FAQ

Common questions

Anything else — open the chat in the corner and ask.

Can I keep my event names?
Yes. Send events and properties as they are; the naming rules (snake case, up to 40 characters) are usually compatible.
Can I import historical events?
There’s no one-click import. If you can export raw events, import them as CSV. Most teams run both for a few weeks before switching.
Is the analysis deep enough?
Funnels, retention, paths, distributions, cohorts, attribution and user profiles are all there. If you depend heavily on an experimentation platform or complex data governance, a dedicated platform may still suit you better.
