Cookie notice

What this website, the chat window and the PathClue tracking script store in your browser, why, and for how long.

Last updated

In short: pathclue.com sets no cookies for analytics or advertising. It keeps a few small preferences in your browser’s local storage — such as whether you closed a banner — and the chat window stores a token only after you open it.

1. Analytics on this website

We measure this website with PathClue in its default, cookieless mode. The script writes nothing to your device: the collector derives a salted visitor identifier from the request, and IP addresses are discarded rather than stored. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the analytics script doesn’t run at all.

2. Preferences stored in your browser

To remember small choices, the site uses your browser’s local or session storage (not cookies). Nothing here identifies you or is sent to us.

ItemPurposeKept
Announcement closedHides an announcement bar you dismissedUntil you clear site data
Language bannerRemembers that you chose or dismissed the language suggestionUntil you clear site data
Campaign parametersKeeps the UTM parameters of your visit so a sign-up can be credited to the campaign that brought youUntil you close the tab

3. The chat window

The chat in the corner is provided by AskCub, our sister product. Nothing is stored until you open it. When you do, a conversation token is saved in local storage so the same conversation continues across tabs and visits. Clearing your site data, or the clear-history option in the chat, removes it.

4. Signing in to the console

When you sign in to the PathClue console, a strictly necessary session cookie keeps you signed in. It is not used for analytics or advertising and is removed when you sign out or it expires.

5. Sites that use PathClue

Websites that use PathClue decide how it runs. By default the script sets no cookies. A site owner can turn on an identified mode — used to recognise signed-in users across devices — which stores a random first-party device identifier in the browser (a cookie or local storage, for up to about 13 months) on that site’s own domain — in the EEA and UK, by default only after consent. The site’s own cookie notice should explain this; contact the site owner with questions.

6. How to control storage

You can clear cookies and site data for pathclue.com at any time in your browser settings, and block them for this site. The website keeps working; you will just see dismissed banners again. Questions: hello@tapcub.com.
