Know who your users are — and which ones are worth the most

Each person gets one profile covering your site, app and mini program, with every visit in order. Group them into segments that update themselves and follow each acquisition cohort to payback.

  • Cross-device identity
  • Segments that update themselves
  • LTV and payback by cohort
The problem

Visit counts don’t tell you who your customers are

01

Numbers, not people

You know you had 48,000 visitors. You can’t open one of them and see what they did.

02

One person, counted three times

The same customer on a laptop, a phone and in your mini program shows up as three users.

03

Segments live in spreadsheets

Every “who are our best customers?” question becomes an export, a VLOOKUP and a list that is outdated by Monday.

Capabilities

From a visitor count to real people

Profiles, identity, segments, accounts and cohorts — the pieces that turn traffic into customers you understand.

01

Profiles and timelines

Open any visitor or user and see every visit, page, event and order in order, with the source of their first visit and the device they used.

  • Visits grouped by visitor
  • First source, orders, LTV and tags on one card
  • Search users by ID, email or property
02Pro and above

Identity across devices

Call login() with your user ID and the anonymous devices of the same person merge into one profile — website, app and mini program — with their history from before sign-in kept.

  • Anonymous history merged on sign-in
  • Site, app and mini-program activity together
  • Identity log you can review

03

Segments and tags

Build segments from behaviour and properties — visited three times, added to cart twice, never purchased — and they update themselves. Use them in every report, alert and automation.

  • Rules on events, properties and platforms
  • Dynamic segments that refresh automatically
  • Tags added by hand or by automation
04

Accounts for B2B

Roll users up to the company they belong to. See active users, key events and health per account, and spot the accounts going quiet.

  • Users grouped by company or workspace
  • Activity and key events per account
  • Account properties such as plan and owner
05

Acquisition cohorts, LTV and payback

Group users by when and where they were acquired, then follow each cohort: how many paid, what they are worth after 30, 60 and 90 days, and on which day the channel paid back.

  • Cohort and period views side by side
  • LTV curves per channel
  • Payback day per cohort
  • Filter cohorts by channel or campaign

Questions teams answer with user analytics

Illustrative scenarios based on typical setups, not customer results.

Illustrative scenario

Who are the best customers?

Problem

The team wants to find more customers like its top 10% — but nobody knows what they have in common.

Used
SegmentsProfilesFirst source
Example result

Top customers mostly came from the newsletter and used the mobile app within a week; onboarding now pushes the app earlier.

Illustrative scenario

Churn risk

Problem

Subscribers cancel without warning; by the time anyone notices, it is too late.

Used
Dynamic segmentsAutomationTags
Example result

Paying users inactive for 14 days now enter a segment that sends a webhook to the CRM, which starts a check-in email.

Illustrative scenario

LTV by channel

Problem

Meta brings the cheapest sign-ups, but are they worth anything?

Used
Acquisition cohortsLTVPayback
Example result

Meta cohorts paid back on day 71, Google on day 38; the cheaper channel was the more expensive one.

FAQ

User analytics questions

Anything else — open the chat in the corner and ask.

How does identity merging work?
Each browser, app install and mini program gets an anonymous ID. When a user signs in, call login() with your own user ID; PathClue links the devices to one profile and keeps the anonymous history from before sign-in.
Which plan includes identity merging?
User identification and cross-device merging are included from Pro. On the Free plan, visitors are counted per device.
Do I have to send personal data?
No. Use an internal user ID. You can add properties such as plan or company, and choose which fields — if any — contain personal data. Contact details are masked for read-only observers.
How often do segments update?
Dynamic segments are recalculated automatically, so reports, alerts and automations always use the current members.
Can I analyse companies instead of individual users?
Yes. Assign users to a group such as a company or workspace and analyse activity, key events and health per account.
