  • Type a description on the left.

Pick one style for the whole product and keep names short: object, then action.

How to use it

Three steps

  1. 1

    Describe the actions

In plain words, one per line.

  2. 2

    Pick your team’s style

Whatever you choose, use it everywhere.

  3. 3

    Copy into your tracking plan

Then use the names in your code.

Tips

Names that stay readable

Object, then action

Grouping by object (checkout_started, checkout_completed) keeps related events together in lists.

Details go in properties

Use one event “button_clicked” with a property for the button, rather than one event per button.

Or let AI name them

PathClue’s AI event inbox proposes names for autocaptured clicks — you only confirm.

FAQ

Event naming questions

Anything else — open the chat in the corner and ask.

Which style is best?
Any consistent style works. Object + action in the past tense is common in product analytics; action + object matches common e-commerce names such as add_to_cart.
Should events include the page name?
Usually not. Put the page in a property — the page path is recorded automatically — so one event covers every page.
Is anything I type stored?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser.
